Thoughtful, possibly boring post

Dear people, I apologize for not posting for awhile. I've been meaning to, but...life gets in the way and I have higher priorities than blogging. (Or...DO I?) Which leads me to my topic of this post. I've been very contemplative lately and I've been thinking about lots of things, one of which is priorities. I recently saw an article titled "Technology Ruined My Life" and sometimes I feel this way as well, but is it really true? I don't think so.

As I mentioned, I've been very contemplative lately and I've been thinking about what my life was like before I got a computer. What ever did I used to do? How many precious hours of my life do I waste away on the computer and then at the end of the day wish I had done something else instead? I spend too much time on the computer, that's for sure. And I don't mean to sound hypocritical here because I am indeed spending time on the computer to write this very post. I don't mean to say that the computer is a bad thing, because it definitely is not. Computers are a blessing, but people have the ability to turn such a blessing into a curse. Even Facebook can be a blessing, but it can also be a curse. For myself, I've been struggling with the amount of time I spend on the computer. Lately I've been forcing myself to spend less time online and more time doing productive things in the real world which is partly why I haven't posted within the past few days. I used to read books like crazy, and lately I've felt so overwhelmed with life that I "don't have time to read books". But I've come to the conclusion that it's not a lack of time, but a lack of will. As I've cut back on the time I spend on the computer, which eats up so much of my day, I've found time to read more and I've been out doing more.

Aside from the computer, and how much time we may or may not spend on it, I think this applies to all of life. I know that I often find myself saying that I don't have time for one thing or another but it simply isn't true. If something is truly important in my life, then there is time for it. The amount of time in a day doesn't change, but our priorities do. You don't have to go to work in the morning. Nobody is forcing you to get out of bed, but it is important to you. Making money is a high priority in many people's lives and therefore, they make time for it. Nobody forces us to eat food, but we want to. We make time to do things that are important to us. Human will is a curious thing, and it's interesting to see what we chose to spend our time on.

Anyway, sorry if this post is a bit short. Just a bit of food for thought. - Ninjasinger

What can you buy on Amazon?

If you've read my previous posts, you may recall that I mentioned my fondness of lists. Well, I like to make lists. Lately I've been exploring on http://www.amazon.com/ and I've come up with a list of a few of the crazy things you can buy off of that site. Pretty much..anything your little heart desires. Here it goes:

Ok, that's all I've got for now. I'm off to eat supper. Enjoy the list. =]

Leathery, cancerous skin? Gee..sorry about that. Shouldn't have tanned so much when you were young..

Do you know what would be absolutely wonderful right now? A buttered cinnamon raisin bagel with honey and a cup of coffee. Mmmmm. Oh wait..I have that here beside me. And it's delicious, just in case you're wondering. =]

Dear readers, I'd like you to know that I dislike bi-polar weather. Last weekend was lovely and warm and this weekend we're practically back to our long johns and wool socks. True, we had record highs last weekend, but I live in Waytoocold located in the frigid northern wastelands of Getmeouttahere. Don't get me wrong, I like snow when it's winter; particularly around Christmas because it makes everything so pretty and you can sled, and make snowmen and all that, but I don't think that cold weather has any business being around when it's supposed to be spring. Everybody was excited last weekend because it was so warm and they were all packing away the knit sweaters that grandma made them. "Ooh it's up to 65 degrees! Time to pull out the tank tops and shorts!"
And guess what some crazy folk did? Laid outside in the sun and got burnt to a crisp. It did get up into the 70s so it was nice, but really? Laying out in the sun? Fine. Burn that beautiful skin of yours. You'll get skin cancer when you're older. And you'll be gross and wrinkly when you're in your late 30s.

Now, I know lots of people that lay out in the sun. I have lots of friends that participate in this time-wasting, skin-frying ritual. And I can't say that I've never done such a thing, but I don't waste my time on it anymore. Ever since I discovered that there are better ways to make use of my precious time, and that getting a tan wasn't good for me *gasp*, I stopped trying to look like I'm from Mexico when I'm not. I have lovely light Norwegian skin and I'm proud of it.

Another thing that bothers me even more than laying out in the sun is when people go to the tanning salon. WHY? Why do you do this? Can somebody please answer this question for me? 1 in 5 people get skin cancer nowadays and it's greatly due to the fact that people go to the tanning salon and spend too much time there and go far too often. Young ladies in particular find the need to look like walking pop tarts fresh out of the toaster oven and I don't understand why. Why can't girls just be comfortable with the way they look? Society should stop pressing us to all look flawless and have freakishly tan skin. I'm not a cookie cutter girl! I refuse to try to look like I just stepped out of a fashion magazine and I'm not going to wear a bucket of makeup every day. Because for the most part, I like the way I look. I'm content being pale. If it means I'm going to live longer and have fresh looking skin when all of my friends are looking like saggy old potato sacks, then fine. In fact...hurray for my pale skin! Hurray for healthy skin! =] Hurray for you if you care and have enough self confidence to steer clear of the tanning salon! (Plus, it never hurt anyone's wallet to stay out of there.)

Alright. Got that out of my system. Enjoy it. Or not. It's up to you. And just remember, tanning booths are evil! Happy blogging! - Ninjasinger

I don't hoard things, I promise! My bedroom is just messy.

Ok, things to do today: clean my bedroom, clean my bathroom, do some reading and some writing and possibly some drawing.( Haven't picked up up my sketch pad and pencil in awhile. I don't want to neglect them too badly.)

That's my ambitious list of things to do today. Here's what I've accomplished so far: I have..taken a bunch of pictures with my brand-new camera. (Notice that that's not even on the list).

I like to make lists. There's more of a chance of me actually accomplishing my goals for the day if I write it down first, but a humorous aspect of that is that I could have accomplished the first goal-or at least a good part of it-in the time it takes me to actually make the list itself. So lists can either be extremely helpful..or just a waste of my time. Unfortunately, I can be a bit of a procrastinator even with a list, which is why instead of diligently cleaning my bathroom, I've been taking pictures for quite some time. I have to say though, it is a wonderful camera and I did mean to get out and take some pictures with it today anyway so it's not wasting my time in the least bit. I just got this camera yesterday in the mail and it was a total surprise to me. My boyfriend bought it for me out of the blue and I'm still trying to figure out how on earth I've been blessed with such a great guy when there's no way I deserve him.

So really, taking pictures is one of the only things I've done today that I wanted to accomplish, and it's already almost 5:00 in the afternoon. My poor bedroom is suffering majorly. You'd think that I'm one of those people who hoards things by the way my bedroom looks right now. I honestly don't like it when things are really messy, but my bedroom is the hardest thing for me to keep clean. I'm fine with the rest of my house, and I like to clean, but my bedroom is the place where I go when I want an escape from cleaning. So unfortunately, my bedroom gets cluttered up and I don't seem to find the will to clean it. But I'm determined to make a dent in this mess today. =] Oh and by the way, if you ever felt like you're completely stuck and you don't know how to clean and keep things clean and the mess just got away from you, you should check out http://www.flylady.com/. I get their daily e-mails and although I don't necessarily follow along with the day-to-day plans, it's a helpful program to use as a guideline.

Anyway, my room really does need to be cleaned, and I have other things I need to be doing, so I'm going to stop blogging now. And just so you know, yesterday was amazing. More than amazing actually. It involved egg rolls, I did some shopping, and then when I came home there was a package waiting for me containing my new camera from my boyfriend. It was a wonderful day. =] Now I'm off. My poor messy bedroom awaits me. - Ninjasinger

First Post. Chinese food makes me happy! =]

To start with, I'd like to dedicate this first post to Jordan and AJ. You've been like my favorite pair of shoes. Right now you're still pretty new and you may get worn with age someday, but I'll just love you even more. Maybe someday when you're old you'll start falling apart and maybe you'll smell..maybe I'll lose one or both of you, but it doesn't change the fact that you're my favorites. I love you guys.

Well, this is my very first post on this blog, and I've been quite excited about it. I'm also quite excited about tomorrow. And here's the reason why: http://www.fergysonmain.com/cms/components/com_virtuemart/shop_image/product/Egg_Rolls_49d15411899c6.jpg
Egg rolls. I'm in love with them. Anddd I'm going out for Chinese food tomorrow at lunch. I think it will be a good day. Actually, any day that has an egg roll in it, I consider to be above average. So it may just be a super excellent day since it involves a Chinese buffet. If you don't like Chinese food, then I'm sorry. If you're allergic to it, then I'm even sorrier. What kind of American doesn't love greasy pork fried rice and crunchy crab rangoons? Dang, I can't wait. Plus, the place where I'm going is a pleasant surprise if you've never been there before. From the outside, it looks like a teeny tiny little restaurant that's going to have pitiful service even though they only have a few tables to wait. But looks can be deceiving. It's much larger on the inside and don't worry..there are more than a few tables. The food is delicious and the service is good. The only thing about that place that disappoints me is that they never give you chopsticks unless you ask. I remember that back in the day, the waiters at the Chinese restaurants would always ask if you wanted chopsticks. I thought it was awesome. "Chopsticks? Heck yeah! I'd love a pair!"

I'd say that the average Joe doesn't know how to use chopsticks very well. Yes we can stab those chicken fingers and munch them off the stick like it's a shish kabob, but we all know that most of us aren't as...um..dextrous with those particular type of eating utensils. So kudos to you if you can wield a pair of eating sticks with flair. And even if you're not so good with chopsticks, it's still fun to eat with them when you go out for Chinese food. It's always been a tradition with me. If I go out for Chinese, I must eat with chopsticks. At least for a bit. I like Chinese food enough that I carry a pair of chopsticks around with me most of time. I may not actually eat with those since they've been sitting in my pocket, but it does make people laugh if you pull them out at random times in random places and you start playing with them. I've gotten some strange looks, but they're usually accompanied by a chuckle, so it's all good.

I apologize if you get bored of reading about egg rolls and chopsticks, but I really am excited for tomorrow and I can't help it if it's all I can think about right now. Maybe my next post will be more interesting. =] Until then. - Ninjasinger
